Market and digital consumer research

Channel, product, and pricing decisions are better when they are grounded in real data about how consumers buy in the category. Research that never leaves the report is worthless.

Many companies have access to data: web analytics, campaign data, platform reports. But that data describes what already happened in their own channel. It says nothing about how consumers who never reached the website buy, how they perceive the brand versus competitors, or what barriers prevent them from purchasing.

That is the gap research fills: understanding the market from outside the own channel, with data on real consumer behaviour, competitive dynamics, and category trends.

At Elogia we have produced proprietary research since 1999. We compile the Annual Social Media Study and the Annual eCommerce Study for IAB Spain, the Online Fashion Commerce Study for AMVO in Mexico, and our own studies on marketplaces, online fashion, digital banking, and other sectors. That research work is connected to the channel operations of the clients we work with.

What we do

Consumer and category studies

We analyse motivations, barriers, purchase behaviour, and consumer touchpoints within the category. Studies combine quantitative methods (surveys, panels, search analysis) and qualitative methods (interviews, observation, social listening), depending on the business question to be answered.

Competitive intelligence

We analyse competitors' positioning across relevant digital channels: what messages they use, which channels they activate, how they manage pricing and availability, and what they are doing in marketplaces. That information is the basis for identifying differentiation opportunities.

Customer journey

We map consumer touchpoints from discovery to post-purchase to identify where in the process there are opportunities and where there is friction. The customer journey is specific to the category and the buyer profile, not a generic framework.

Search and demand analysis

Searches on Google and Amazon are direct signals of existing demand in the category. We analyse what is being searched, at what volume, with what intent, and how competitors are responding to those searches, to identify opportunities in organic acquisition and Paid Media.

Activating findings

Research that is not translated into concrete channel, product, or pricing decisions is a cost with no return. We work with clients to ensure research findings connect with channel strategy and operations.

Frequently asked questions

Your own website data describes the behaviour of users who already reached the channel: what they did, when they left, what they bought. A market study also analyses consumers who didn't arrive: why they didn't, what they do with competitors, what barriers they have to buying. Both are necessary to have a complete picture of the market.

Product decisions (what to include in the catalogue, what to remove), channel decisions (which channels consumers use in the category), messaging decisions (which arguments resonate and which don't), pricing decisions (which price threshold generates friction), and roadmap decisions (which changes are expected to have the greatest business impact).

It depends on scope and methodology. A search and digital conversation analysis can be ready in two to three weeks. A quantitative survey study with a representative sample takes between four and eight weeks, including design, fieldwork, analysis, and results presentation.
